ABC Sing, Sign & Play
Nursery sessions – speech, language and communication groups
We are bringing our communication, language and literacy expertise into nursery settings across the UK. All of our Speech & Language Therapists are experts at hand to pop up in your nursery to sing, sign and play.

Fun for children and valuable for their communication development.
Sing, Sign & Play combines songs, signing, movement, actions and play with expert speech and language strategies to support children’s communication development in a fun, engaging and memorable way.
Created and delivered by experts, our sessions give children lots of opportunities to listen, interact, join in, communicate and have fun – while supporting the development of important communication and language skills.

Our Sing, Sign & Play sessions help children to:
Learn through fun, engaging activities
Using songs, music, movement, actions, signing and play to make communication development enjoyable.
Develop listening and attention
Encouraging children to listen, focus and join in with fun, interactive activities.
Support understanding and language processing
Giving children opportunities to process spoken language, follow instructions and respond.
Build vocabulary
Introducing and reinforcing useful vocabulary through memorable songs, signs, repetition and play.
Support confident communication
Giving children different ways to communicate their wants, needs, ideas and feelings.
Reduce frustration
Supporting children to communicate more successfully by making language easier to understand and giving them additional ways to express themselves.
Make language visual
Using signs, actions and visual cues alongside spoken language to help children understand, remember and use new language.

Supporting children and empowering practitioners
Our Sing, Sign & Play sessions don’t just benefit the children – they give nursery practitioners the opportunity to develop their own communication-supporting skills too.
Each week, practitioners learn bite-sized, practical strategies from their Speech and Language Therapist, giving them the knowledge and confidence to support communication throughout the nursery day.
Through regular weekly sessions, staff can gradually build on their skills and learn what to use, how to use it and, importantly, how to incorporate it naturally into everyday routines, play and interactions.
This means the impact goes beyond the session itself. Staff can take the songs, signs, vocabulary and communication strategies into their everyday practice, creating more opportunities for children to listen, understand, communicate and connect throughout the day.
Small amounts of expert training.
Big impact on everyday communication.
